This is the Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applicable to this web portal, website, and any other mobile or online service and applications owned, controlled, or offered by Become the Need now or in the future (the "Platform"). This Policy is subject to and must be read in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions of Use ("Terms") of the Platform. Become the Need (hereinafter "Become the Need") does collect certain non-personal information and certain personally identifiable information about you when you visit and use this Platform.
By using the Platform, you accept and agree to be bound by each of the Terms set forth in this Policy. Become the Need may modify this Policy at any time. Amended terms of this Policy are effective as of the date that they are posted. You should, therefore, review this Policy periodically. Your access and use of the Platform or any purchases or downloads made through the Platform after the effective date of any amendment to this Policy means that you have accepted its amended terms. If you do not accept the Terms of this Policy, you must cease using the Platform.
For purposes of this Policy, to use, access and/or visit the Platform includes visiting or registering, creating an account, subscribing to the services offered by Become the Need through the App, uploading a resume, recording interview responses, or otherwise interacting with the Platform and its features ("Use").
Your information (both personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information) is collected when you register with the Platform to receive certain services or products offered through Become the Need. Become the Need may also request and collect personally identifiable information when you opt to participate in sponsored programs. Become the Need or any affiliates may offer from time to time, including but not limited to, promotional invitations, survey invitations and referral incentive programs, promotional offerings, and any other participation in any other special offers or programs. Personally identifiable information may also be requested when you purchase any of the services or products offered by Become the Need. Additionally, personally identifiable information may be collected automatically through third-party service providers when you use Become the Need or affiliated websites, mobile applications, social media pages or other media platforms.
Become the Need and/or its authorized service providers may collect your information when you Use the App, register for an account, or otherwise submit information, including instances when you do not complete any applicable registration process in its entirety. The type of personal identifiable information that Become the Need collects may include, without limitation, your: (i) full name; (ii) email address; (iii) payment information (processed through third-party providers); Become the Need does not store credit card details on its servers; (iv) educational background and professional experience information from uploaded resumes; (v) employment-related goals and preferences; (vi) interview responses and text-based reflections provided during practice sessions.
When You Use the App, Become the Need and its third-party service providers (including, but not limited to Google Cloud Platform and Replit) may collect non-personally identifiable information such as: (i) device type, browser version, and operating system; (ii) IP address and general geographic location; (iii) usage statistics, error logs, and crash reports; and (iv) cookies or similar tracking files.
As for audio recordings that are generated during the simulated interviews, or STAR practice mode, they are processed in real time and not retained after User leaves the practice screen. The resumes are stored in plain text for analysis and may be processed by privacy-enhancing tools such as Microsoft Presidio or Datafog to redact personally identifiable data. Additionally, the Platform uses OpenAI's large language model (LLM) through Become the Need's environment key for personalized feedback and content generation. OpenAI's data policies govern how that data is processed; Become the Need selects settings that prohibit long-term retention by the LLM provider where technically feasible and available.
Become the Need may use your personal and non-personal information to: (i) operate, manage, and improve the App; (ii) provide interview-preparation services and recommendations; (iii) communicate with you about updates, offers, and educational content through a third-party mass email provider; (iv) respond to inquiries or requests for support; (v) customize your experience and improve Platform functionality; and (vi) ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Become the Need may use your personal information to analyze and manage its business and for any other internal purposes. As mentioned previously, Become the Need may use third parties to help operate the App, its business or for any other product or activity.
Become the Need reserves the right to release past or current personally identifiable information in the event that Become the Need believes that you are using or have used Become the Need's products, services, and/or the Platform (or any part thereof): (i) in violation of the Terms of the App, as they may be amended from time to time; (ii) to break the law. Additionally, Become the Need may release your personally identifiable information if (i) such information is subpoenaed or otherwise subject to legal process, (ii) it is required to do so pursuant to law or regulations or (iii) it is necessary to protect the property, health and safety of Become the Need, its clients, users, customers and the public.
Except as otherwise provided in this Policy, or if Become the Need requests from you and obtains your permission to share your personally identifiable information with third parties, Become the Need shall not share or sell your personally identifiable information with third parties.
Personally identifiable information may be disclosed to the proper authorities in special situations where Become the Need has reason to believe that doing so is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against anyone damaging, injuring, or interfering (intentionally or unintentionally) with Become the Need's rights, property, users, or anyone else who may be harmed by such activities. Become the Need may reveal personally identifiable information when it has been instructed to do so by a court of law or any other governmental authorities.
For privacy and security purposes, your Become the Need account information may be password and/or secret phrase protected. If the Platform or any part or component thereof requires the use of a password or secret phrase, you have the responsibility to maintain the secrecy and/or integrity of your password or secret phrase by taking reasonable measures to ensure these are not misused. You must notify Become the Need immediately should you suspect that your password or phrase secrecy has been compromised.
Non-personally identifiable information (including without limitation, the type of browser that you use and its version, your IP address, your location or your general geographic location, the operating system that you use and its version, and the domain name of your Internet service provider, aggregate information from all Platform visitors and/or registered users) may be collected by Become the Need and/or any third-party providers to analyze and improve Become the Need's services or the Platform and to monitor the total number of visitors to the Platform (collectively or individually), the number of visitors to various pages on the Platform, and the domain names of Platform visitors' Internet service providers. This data may also be used by third parties engaged by Become the Need to provide consulting, hosting, administration, advertising or other services.
When you visit or register in the App, Become the Need may send a cookie and/or gif file ("Cookie") to assign an anonymous, unique identifier to your Internet browser and/or your computer or mobile device. A Cookie is a short string of data that allows our Platform to remember who you are, serving much like a unique membership ID. Become the Need uses Cookies to remember reference keys to some of your Platform preferences so that we can provide a more convenient experience during each visit. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify you – they recognize your browser. Cookies only become personally identifiable when paired with other information you provide to us during your use of the Platform.
Nothing in this Policy shall be interpreted as Become the Need representing, offering, or guaranteeing any products, services or programs to you. Become the Need is under no obligation to provide or maintain any services or the App. The Platform may contain links to other websites or mobile applications ("External Links"). Become the Need is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites or mobile applications. We encourage users to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This Policy applies solely to information collected by the Platform and not to External Links.
All the information that we hold can be accessed through the user account. You may correct, amend, or delete the personal information we hold about you. An individual who seeks access, or who seeks to correct, amend, or delete inaccurate data can also submit a request to support@becometheneed.com. If requested to remove data, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Where the data to be collected or processing is optional, individuals are given choice. Where disclosure is optional and not necessary to provide the product or service, individuals have a choice and can opt-out of sharing. Users can contact support@becometheneed.com for assistance in managing preferences where possible. We do not charge fees for an individual to exercise this right.
